Phoodle is the foodie spinoff of Wordle and it’s kind of addicting. We play it everyday! Win or lose, you get a nice little factoid about the day’s clue, which is a nice bonus. Phoodle is the brainchild of cookbook author Julie Loria, who announced the game on her Instagram May 9, 2022.
While it’s unknown just how many total players there are, Phoodle has gained a loyal cult-like following who play it daily like us. It even attracted the attention of Martha Stewart, whose first crack at the game was the French word for beef: boeuf. Since seeing her post about it, boeuf has been a common first-turn guess because it uses 3 vowels.
How to Play Phoodle
Phoodle is a game similar to Wordle where you have six chances to guess a hidden five-letter word. After each guess, the game shows which letters you have entered that appear in the hidden word and their positions. If you manage to guess the word correctly, the game celebrates with a confetti animation. It’s important to note that Phoodle answers are not restricted to just names of food; it could be a style of cooking, utensils, baking terminology, etc.
Upon winning (or losing), the game gives you a nice little factoid about the clue, which is a nice bonus. There are also rumours that Phoodle will introduce a weekly featured recipe, although this has yet to be confirmed by Julie Loria.

Phoodle is our favorite too, but today the animated confetti is gone and our victory felt hollow😞. What gives?
